A cool and refreshing drink - perfect accompaniment for brunch. Inspired from a classic mimosa, sans the bubbly, and a few flavours to make it interesting!

Its easy, quick and full of natural flavours. It has fresh finely sliced ginger and bruised orange segments. Freshly sliced ginger, in my opinion makes a big difference as the taste of ginger infuses into the drink. Use a vegetable peeler to make thin slices.

Peel the orange segments, and bruise them a bit so that it releases some juice. Let the segments soak in the juice till ready for use. Chill if required.

If there's not enough juice from the oranges, then you can add 2 or 3 tablespoonful of orange juice.

I add a whole cinnamon stick to the drink. There is no sugar, except the natural sugars from the orange, so the cinnamon adds to the sweetness. You can avoid it if you want.

Top off the ginger and orange with sparkling water and ice. Use sugar-free, unflavoured sparkling water for a simple detox drink.

If you want to step it up one notch, and are not in a mood to detox, top off with a good Prosecco instead of sparkling water. To make a proper mimosa, top off with Champagne. For a stiffer drink, add a dash orange liqueur.

I love this drink as you can simplify it to simple three ingredients or elevate it to a brunch cocktail with no fuss at all.

Recipe:

Ingredients:

4-5 slices of ginger, finely sliced

6-7 segments of orange, peeled and bruised to release some juice

(Add 2 tbsp of orange juice if there's not enough juice by bruising the segments)

1 broken stick cinnamon

1 glass sparkling water

Ice

In a glass, put ginger slices, orange segments along with juice and cinnamon stick

Top off with sparkling water and ice.

Stir and let sit for few minutes to let the flavours infuse.
